Born Again Christian Churches

QUESTION: What are born again Christian churches?

ANSWER:

Born again Christian churches are Bible-believing churches. The people who attend might call themselves “born again believers.” The term comes from the following passage in the Bible.

John 3:1-5 states:
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
Born again Christian churches – The Beliefs
Most born again Christians (and their churches) have these beliefs in common:
  • Teaching God’s Inspired Word (the Bible) is the most important step for a born again Christian church. “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). Both the Old and the New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and are the authority for our lives. Reading and understanding the Bible is the means by which we grow in our spiritual lives.

  • Presenting the one True God. He has revealed Himself as the Creator of heaven and earth. He is the Redeemer. He is part of the Trinity.

  • Sharing the Gospel. This is the plan of salvation for man. Man willingly chose to sin causing evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world. Every individual can have restored fellowship with God through salvation (trusting Christ, through faith, to be our personal Savior). It is the understanding that Jesus was crucified as a substitute for sins, that He died, and rose again. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus alone. Sanctification initially occurs at salvation, but also a progressive lifetime process of separating from evil as believers draw closer to God and become more like Jesus. Those who reject the Gospel will spend eternity separated from God in the lake of fire.

  • Spreading that Gospel. The Church has a duty to seek and save all who are lost in sin. Born again Christian churches consist of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ. These people desire to share that crucial message throughout the world.

  • Worshiping together. As part of a born again Christian Church, the Bible instructs us to meet together. Each of us must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up the body of believers, and to meet the needs of others with ministries of love and compassion.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus

I still have questions
